My First Date

Don't worry, my marriage is still intact! (my wallet isn't after this event). Of course I am talking about The Makeup Date beauty event that I recently attended at Bloomingdale's Willowbrook Mall location. It was the first of it's kind, and I don't think it will be their last, considering the fact that there were over 200 ladies in attendance, at 7:30 in the morning, on a Saturday no less! Those ladies were serious about getting there beauty on! I actually wasn't sure if I wanted to go because I love my beauty sleep. But when I heard that my good friend, and celebrity fashion stylist Gina LaMorte was hosting, I was in!

Bloomingdale's kicked the early morning off with limited edition train cases loaded with goodies, a lovely complimentary breakfast and a live D.J. The excitement was contagious as we all anticipated hearing about the latest beauty trends in eyes, lips and skincare. After breakfast, we were then escorted to our seats for the exclusive runway show featuring the best selling and most buzzed about products presented by nine talented makeup artists representing cosmetic lines such as Dior(one essential serum), La Prairie(The Ice Crystal Collection), Clarins(Double Serum), Lancome(Dual finish), Clairsonic, Bobbie Brown(Smokey Eye Kit), Trish McEvoy(Instant Eye Lift), and Estee lauder(Double Wear Foundation).  Using live models gave us the perfect visual of how a product was to be applied, and what the end result should look like. Genius!

As we all know, I am a sucker when it comes to beauty products, and I wanted to purchase  all of them, but I am trying to be good, (after emptying out my half used product arsenal) and sticking to the promise I made to myself, that I would use the items I have before purchasing anything new. So much for promises. Here are the items that came home with me:

1. Bobbie Brown Smokey eye kit ( Bonus: takes the guess work out of the smokey eye, and I received a gift with purchase lip and cheek palate).

2. La Prairie Essence of Skin Caviar eye complex(Bonus: A little goes a very long way, I received nice sized samples from the Crystal Collection, and I made a new friend, Scottie Crombie account executive for La Prairie, and she's from Scotland! Double bonus!)

3. Clairsonic Aria (Bonus: It's smaller than the original, making it a nice travel. I  also received a full-size gentle hydro cleanser and a pretty carrying case.)

It's always so empowering to be around woman who are excited to feel better, look better and want to improve themselves. I met so many great people, and left Bloomingdales feeling completely inspired and ready to take on the world. It was great way to start a Saturday!

Have a beauty filled day!

Thanks for stopping by

Skipping Into Spring

I very rarely page through a catalog and want to buy an entire outfit. It's usually where I get my inspiration, but I generally like to style my own outfits, and create my own individual look. Although every once in a while, it's nice, not to have to think about it. I made a bee line for Nordstrom after seeing this lovely ensemble in their catalog. It's the perfect combination of feminine and edgy, and can we please talk about this blush color?!!!! I'm obsessed! This outfit makes me so happy, I will be skipping right into spring!

Spring Please!

I"m really, really. really looking forward to some warmer weather, after the winter we have had  here, and it looks like spring has finally arrived.

I love this time of year. It's a time of new beginnings, and getting back on track. Speaking of new, I have something exciting  to share with you all. I am going to be featured in our local Mainstreet Magazine this month, but I am even more excited that they have asked me to be a part of their new style section! More good things to come.
