It's official!! Happy first day of summer! I seem to reminisce about my childhood this time of year more than any other season. I remember it, like it was yesterday. The last day of school, not a care in the world. Summer rec at the local elementary school, the ice-cream man, family vacations, swimming, and sleepovers at my bestie's. Aaaah! the good old days, when life was simpler, and we weren't distracted by social media. Don't get me wrong, social media is a fashion bloggers lifeline, but every once in a while, it feels good to unplug and focus on the things that really make me happy, the simpler things in life. I suppose that's why God gave us a memory bank, so that when life gets a little too crazy, all we have to do, is quiet our hearts, and think back to those times that were precious to us, make a withdrawal, and just be in that moment.
With that being said, I would like to introduce you to my beautiful friend, Jessica Callan of RADGIRL Designs. I met Jessica at our church in NJ several years ago, and was drawn to her laid back, easy going attitude(which is pretty unusual for a Jersey girl). So it only seems appropriate that she now lives in the "hang loose" state of Hawaii, with her husband, and their two beautiful little boys. Jess's personality may seem laid back and easy going, but her designs, are anything but that! Each one of her products are unique, and are made using new and repurposed materials, even items she finds on the beach. She has a passion for breathing new life into old things, and it shows in her work. Jess's motto: Let no thread go to waste!
When I found out that she was designing hats, I thought it would be fun to design something together. The result: This fabulous Aloha camo hat, and I couldn't think of a better way to welcome summer. She puts her heart, her love, and her Aloha spirit into everything she makes. Another FAB custom hat is in the works, so stay tuned for more posts featuring RADGIRL Designs.
