Finally Fall

I'm so excited that fall is finally here! My Vince leather jacket was a late spring purchase, so I didn't get to wear it much before I had to put it away for the summer. I fell in love with the color, which to me, is the perfect hue for fall, and with the moto jacket trend being so hot this season,  I couldn't wait for the cooler temps to arrive.

I highly recommend investing in at least one great leather jacket. They never go out of style, and you definitely get your money's worth!

Suburban Chic(ken)

Yay!!!! It was finally cool enough this past weekend, to break out my new J.Crew chic(ken) sweater. I am so excited that the animal sweaters are back for another season, because I never got the chance to purchase one last year. Yes, I am a  45 year old woman wearing a sweater with a chicken on it. Not just any chicken, a chicken with a pink beret. What can I say, it makes me happy! You're only as old as you feel, right? Stay tuned for future outfit posts, featuring my feathered friend.

.......And can we please talk about my new shoes? I love them so much, I wore them out of the store. How could I not, they looked perfect with my new sweater! Aaaaaah, the little things in life.

Beauty Is Skin Deep

"A little powder, a little paint makes a lady what she ain't". I have heard my grandmother use this saying on more than one occasion. Although, this quote may apply on some days when we aren't feeling our best, but we all know that it doesn't matter how much paint we put on, if our skin isn't being taken care of. The canvas has to be in good condition in order for the paint to look good, right? How is your canvas looking?

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of attending The Neiman Marcus First Annual Beauty Event in collaboration with InStyle magazine and can I tell you?  It was FABulous!!!! Two of my favorite things(fashion and beauty) under one classy roof! It doesn't get any better than that! There were cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, makeovers, prizes, swag bags and much more.

Nicole Williams, celebrity makeup artist, and host for the event, did an excellent job getting us excited for all of the new trends in fashion and beauty. The evening began with a fashion show, where beauty experts from  brands such as LeMÄ“tier De BeautÄ“, Trish McEvoy, and Veneffect, to name a few, joined forces with beautiful models to present their top picks for the season. It was a lot to take in, but extremely informative. The only downfall, was the fact that I wanted to purchase every beauty product that was presented!

I promised myself that I would use the products I already have, before I purchase anything else. Well, that went right out the window! I did only purchase one product(for those of you who know me, that's a miracle in itself),but I do have a very large list of the items I will be going back to NM for in the near future.

With the conclusion of the fashion show, the fun continued, as we were escorted to the cosmetic department for some continued pampering with the beauty experts. I learned about some wonderful new products, got some new makeup tips, and met some new friends. NM knows how to throw a girls night out and I look forward to attending more events like this one. You didn't miss out because this event runs through September 22.

So,whether you need to replenish what you already have, are looking to try out one of this season's hottest makeup trends, or would like to refresh your current look, I encourage you to pop on over to Neiman Marcus in Paramus, N.J.  The sales staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and hands on, and they will find the right product that will work for you, because after all, it is "all about you."

What I Wore ~ Pearls and Lace

Well, The fall chill is definitely in the air, so I wanted to get one more shorts post in before it gets too cold. A few weeks ago my family gathered at my moms house in Maryland to celebrate Nanny's 100th birthday. Ocean City is a beach town, so naturally I was a little over dressed! (Shocking!)

I'm pretty sure I get most of my sense of style from my grandmother. I still love going through her jewelry box, so I decided to go with a statement pearl necklace to honor her. Even at 100 years of age, all of her jewelry and I mean all, is completely organized. My Aunt and I couldn't believe the amount of beaded necklaces she owns. Love her!!!!

There is nothing like spending time with family, and any excuse to dress up, in my book, is a good one! A great time was had by all (especially Nanny).

Love these ladies and their style!!!

Happy Tuesday!

This time of year brings back so many (fashion related) memories for me. I loved the trips with my mom to our local Buster Brown shoe store, Sears and Marshalls to purchase my back to school wardrobe. I was one of those weird kids who couldn't wait for the new school year to start. I would wear my entire fall wardrobe (even the wool sweaters) within the first week of school. For me, that first week of the new school year was like my very own personal fashion week, and the hallways were my runway.

Even the walk to the bus stop was exciting. Although the weather was still warm, there was always that small hint of fall in the air, even the birds sounded different to me. Everyone and everything, seemed to be in preparation mode for the upcoming season, and with each season, even from a very young age, came inspiration to reinvent my existing wardrobe, or incorporate something new.

This year I have been very intrigued by the menswear inspired styles and I am really excited about putting together some great outfits with this look in mind.  Here are a few, that will hopefully be joining the rest of the fall line up in my closet.  I love each of these three looks because they are structured, yet at the same time, very feminine.
