A Hairy Situation

I was looking at some of my recent blog posts and was not happy with how my hair was looking in some of the photos. I know I'm probably obsessing, but my feeling is, if my hair doesn't look good, neither will my outfits. I know there are some other hair obsessed lovelies out there that know how I feel, and can relate to my dilemma.

So I decided that I would select one product line that would work for all of my hair needs. Now, this task for any normal person would probably be daunting, but for a hair obsessed person such as myself, not so much. All I had to do, was turn to my archives(bathroom closet) of partially used hair products to narrow it down. I remembered I had purchased the Moroccan Oil glimmer shine spray and a small bottle of the Original Moroccan oil, so  I started using them again to see if I still liked them as much as I did initially. I did, and my hair is starting to come back to life again.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner! I have finally found a complete product line that works with my hair type(course and thick). Whoo hoo!  It's not like I'm talking about anything new here,  Moroccan Oil has been around for quite some time now, but it is easy to get distracted by all of the other products out there, all claiming to do different things. I decided to stick with what I know, and what works. With Moroccan Oil's Repair line, I can start to rebuild my hair from any damage done by coloring, chemically treating, and heat styling. I have only been using it for about a week now, and I have to say, my hair is already starting to feel and look better. I guess the proof will be in pudding, or the photos, in my case.

Moroccan Oil is a quality product that delivers immediate and real results. They have very high standards for their product and they can only be purchased in salons(I purchased mine at Panico in Ridgewood, NJ). They honor their commitment to salon professionals by using a unique tracking system that follows each product from it's source, to it's destination. It's pretty impressive, and I also love the fact that this brand was born from a bad hair experience. Talk about making lemons into lemonade! Read more about that here.

Currently I am using the Repair shampoo and conditioner along with the Repair restorative hair mask once week. For styling, I am using the Hydrating styling cream  and to finish, the Glimmer shine spray. Each of their products has a video tutorial on how to use them, as well as reviews and facts. I will be adding the Frizz control spray once the weather starts getting warmer. I think I am going to skip the Keratin treatment I get once a year to control frizz(sssshhhh! don't tell my stylist). It will be a lot more affordable and healthier for my hair.  The moral of this hair dilemma, is to stick to what works. Well, I guess it's time to purge my archives!

Crazy For Coats ~ Part 3

The next coat really isn't even a coat it all. It's a cape, and it's awesome!!!! I happened upon this beauty at a little boutique called Style Counsel, while shopping with friends in Warwick NY. Once again, I was attracted to the big chunky hardware, and I am loving this fresh take on leopard in the soft grey tones.
All in all, this winter hasn't been so bad (in the wardrobe department that is). The weather on the other hand, well, that's another story.

Crazy For Coats ~ Part Two

Next up, is this Fabulous Walter Baker coat that was calling my name from the sale rack at T.J. Maxx. You're probably asking yourself, does she really need another coat? Ummm. Yes! It was all alone and needed a home, and besides, have you seen the winter we've been having in NJ? A Jersey girl(or any woman for that matter) can't wear just one coat for the whole season! Options people! Options!

I love everything about this coat, from the faux leather quilted sleeves to the asymmetrical zipper. I'll tell you one thing, having more than one statement coat, definitely helps with the winter doldrums. It's also the best time to buy one, because they are all on sale now. So go ahead, buy that coat(or two) that you've been wanting.

Crazy For Coats ~ Part One

This season I scored big in the coat department. I mean, really big! So big, that I am going to have to break this post up into four parts. I suppose I could put them all into one post, but I wouldn't want to put you into a coat coma. Besides, it gives you something to look forward to right?
First up, is this fabulous color blocked coat from J.Crew. From the first moment I laid eyes   on this beauty, I was obsessed with it. Unfortunately, it was sold out on J.Crew's site, so with a little bit of persistence, I eventually found one in my size on eBay( brand new, with tags). I ordered it on a Tuesday, and had it by the weekend. I highly recommend derailed78 on eBay. My delivery was prompt and she sent me a lovely thank you note, and was very happy that her coat went to a good home. She had actually debated whether or not she would sell it. I'm so glad she did!

Chameleon ~ Now you see me....

When it comes to fashion, I have never been one who likes to blend in. Just ask anyone who attended high school with me in the 80's. (Picture short hair with a long bleach blond tail.) Okay, now that you have that image burned into your brain forever, let's get back to the real reason for this post. Camo!

I have been looking for a pair of camo pants for quite some time now, but just couldn't seem to find the right ones. Some read too "Duck Dynasty"(no offense to The Robertson's, it's one of my favorite shows),while others just didn't fit well, so it was hard for me to contain my excitement when I spotted these on the sale rack at Old Navy. Unfortunately they weren't my size. Fortunately, there is always the internet. However, I'm always a little leery about purchasing clothing online, because I am not a big  fan of returning things. Lucky for me, I have a pair of jeans in the same style, and love the way they fit, so ordering was easy peasy. I am a little obsessed with decorative hardware, so the zippers on the pockets and ankles were just an added bonus, and you can't beat the price!

Happy Weekend and happy "hunting"(in the shopping kind of way)

Love ........ Just Write

It was the week before Valentine's Day 2012, and I am embarrassed to say, I hadn't even given it a thought. It always seems to sneak up on me. To be honest with you, I was also a little preoccupied with the impending arrival of my new nephew(born on Valentine's Day). Normally, my husband and I usually do something easy, like dinner and small gifts to each other. It's never anything elaborate, so this year I wanted to do something a little more memorable. I was drawing a blank, so I turned to the internet for some help. There were obviously many suggestions and great ideas, but one stood out to me. It suggested buying him a nice leather journal to write in. Now, if you know my husband, he is a wonderful guy who I am blessed to be married to, but he is not a fan of journaling.

I on the other hand LOVE to write all of my thoughts and ideas down, so I decided to stick with the original plan, but changed it up a bit to make it more meaningful. Instead of giving him the journal to write in, I wrote a little love note in the front, gave it to him, and then promptly took it back, explaining that for the next 365 days I would record all of the sweet and thoughtful things he does for me. Needles to say, he was very relieved, and touched when I took it back. Fast forward to Valentine's Day 2013. I returned the journal to him packed with 365 days of love, and he still enjoys reading it every night.

This simple idea turned out to be such a blessing and made our relationship even stronger than ever. We both became more conscious of how much the little things we do for one another on a daily basis really do impact our lives in a big way. It's  pretty hard to nit pick about all of the things a person does wrong, when you are looking for all of the things they do right.

If you do choose to take on this mission, you won't regret it! It's a win win situation for everyone involved! Trust me, you will enjoy the journey!

Happy Journaling!!!!

"The cute way you say, "hello wife" as you walk in the door at night."
"Thank you for dressing up like Buddy the Elf to cheer up a friend."
"Thank you for leaving the umbrella hanging on the door handle so I wouldn't get wet in the rain today."
"Thank you for the daily kisses on the cheek while I'm still sleeping before you go out the door to work."

"I love the fact that you love to shop as much as I do!"
"Thank you for the countless times you wait for me to finish my hair, makeup etc."
"Thank you for noticing the little things that need to be done at my moms house when we are visiting."
"Thank you for your daily calls at work to see how my day is going."
