WORK OUT MODE

I don't know about you, but I am not one to spend hours at the gym, and when it comes to my work out routine, I want the most bang for my buck in the least amount of time. A friend of mine shared an app with me about a year ago, and I am embarrassed to say, I only just started utilizing it 5 weeks ago in hopes that I will be toned for our trip to Hawaii in May. 

The 7 minute workout challenge (7 MWC) is life changing (and body changing)!!! I have been so happy with the results that I canceled my gym membership. You don't need a lot of space or a lot of time, and you can do it anywhere. I do two rounds every morning, and the order of the exercises changes each time you workout. Diet is also a big part of working out so I have cut out all (bad) carbs and sweets and I don't eat anything after 8pm. This work out is excuse proof because everyone has 7 minutes and I know it may not feel like it, but swimsuit season is right around the corner! (Yikes!!)  So get downloading, get your 7 minutes on, and get into the best shape of your life!

Game On!

When it comes to choosing the winning team for the big game, I usually pick the team based on the color and style of their uniforms (insert eye roll), but this year there is no debating which team we will be rooting for on Sunday, since my husband went to High School with Ron Rivera. So, the Panthers it is!!! I like the color of their uniforms better anyway. (Sorry Broncos). Super Bowl Sunday is all about comfort mixed with style. I am not a football jersey wearing girl, so I decided to show my Panther support by putting my own personal spin on it.

Although I may not be a huge football fan (all of you die hard football lovers might want to cover your ears), I still enjoy dressing up to show my team spirit, and when TickPick asked me to share my game day style, I jumped at the chance! Count it all Joy!

I am absolutely loving this California December we have been having! These pics were obviously taken a few months ago when I styled one of my favorite summer dresses for the colder weather (which hasn't arrived yet, and I'm not complaining).

It's amazing how easy it is to be joyful when the temps are milder, things are going exactly how we planned, and life is good, isn't it? Being joyful in all things is definitely not easy. I failed that test big time when my suitcase went missing(it's still lost by the way) at Newark Airport upon returning from our trip to California last month. I wasted many precious hours of my life arguing with the airline and getting absolutely nowhere, my missing suitcase was consuming my every thought and starting to rent space in my head, so I finally surrendered it all to God in order to move on from it,. Sure this whole incident was extremely disappointing, but it's not life or death, and I will replace most of my things at some point, but did I handle the situation with joy? Not really. Lesson learned.

James 1: 2-3 says,  Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. Verse 5 continues with this; If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. The beautiful thing about God, is that he gives us grace to draw a line in the sand and start over each and every day.

This is the season for Joy, but I also recognize that this time of year can also be very difficult for many, some of you may be going through trials right now where you feel like your faith is really being tested, but count it all joy, because He will never leave you or forsake you, and His light will always shine through the darkness.

For us a child is born,

to us, a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jump Into The Holidays!

The mild weather we have been having, makes it  hard to believe it's almost Christmas in NJ, and I love the fact that I can carry some of my favorite warm weather pieces into the fall and winter this year. This jumpsuit is one of my favorites, and unfortunately it is also one of the items that was packed in my suitcase that is currently missing in Newark Airport somewhere, (sigh). When I found it online at shopmaude.com I fell in love with the pattern and the style, but I wasn't sure about the pant leg. It looked a little wider than what I am used to wearing, but It was on sale for $25 reduced from $100, so I figured I could always alter it if I didn't like it. When I received it and tried it on, I decided I really didn't like the wide pant leg, so I did end up altering it, and now I love it even more with the elastic bottoms because it's comfortable, yet versatile enough to dress up or down.

I was going to write a quick post about my outfit, and then I started thinking about the word alter. I looked up the definition: Alter- to change or make different; modify, to change or become different, to cause a transformation.

Sometimes we have to make some alterations in our life if we want things to be different. Change isn't change until we change, right? It's amazing how when we just do one small thing differently than we have in the past, we are more productive. 

Right now I am at a point in my life where I'm trying to figure out how God wants to use me.  If you have noticed I haven't been posting as much as I use to. I work all day on a computer, and the last thing I feel like doing when I get home is sitting in front of one again( just being honest), but the funny thing is, when I neglect my blog, I feel kind of incomplete. I know that may sound silly, but I actually do love posting, it just takes me some time to gather my thoughts, and if all of you fabulous people are going to take the time out to read this, it better be something worth reading!

In my last post I told you that I would be changing my daily routine up a little bit, and I have been.

I started reading Terri Savelle Foy's book Imagine Big and can't get enough of it. I bought the box set which includes several cd's on different subjects. The Clutter Clean Out is the one I am currently listening to and she talks about being more efficient by using the 20 minutes you do have rather than worrying about the hour you don't have. It's so true isn't it? We have all of these unfinished projects taking up space in our heads because when we think about getting them done, we get overwhelmed and never complete them. It really is amazing what tasks you can accomplish in 20 minutes. So far I have cleaned out my makeup drawer, my closets and junk drawer, and now since these projects are no longer taking up mental space in my head, I can work on my goals and the bigger things I want to accomplish.

Maybe it's time to clean up and clean out so you can make room for the bigger things that God has for you.

Wakefield and York ~ City Chic In "The "Burbs"

With the holidays rapidly approaching, it's time to start thinking about making our lists and checking them twice, and when it comes to shopping, especially this time of year, I prefer to stay local. The nice thing about shopping the small boutiques is that there are fewer crowds, more parking, and you can take your time shopping in a more peaceful and personable environment without having to feel rushed. 

A few weeks ago, I was invited to attend the grand opening party of Wakefield and York, located in beautiful Upper Montclair, N.J. and judging by the large turn out for the event, they won't be going anywhere too soon! Martha Fava and Michelle Gettings are the dynamic duo behind the already successful contemporary women's boutique, and together, they have combined their strong backgrounds in fashion and interior design, as well as their business savvy, to bring something a little different to "the "burbs." They have buying "on trend" pieces, down to a science, and believe me, they know what they are doing, because by the end of the evening, their racks were half full, and we all left feeling like rock stars! Isn't that how you should feel after making a great purchase?
